October!

I should've added this earlier.

Well they have the riding ring up, as you can see.

It is very nice. It doesn't echo like a wooden arena. And it seems to stay a comfortable temp, all day. Here's some other pics

This is Blondie, and Victory, they are half Connemera, and half Hannovarian. Aren't they cute?

Fall is in the Air

Well, the leaves are slowly starting to change. The horses are shedding out their summer coats. Mr. Bass is becoming good buddies with the paint/painted saddle horse gelding, Duke. I have to get some new pics up here. They have the arches for the riding ring up, and pipe work for water to the barn and the ring, and lights for the ring..... it is so exciting. Today they are probably going to get the cover on the ring, so I'll have to take pictures.

Alexis and Josh are "working" to take riding lessons at the barn. Amanda has them each do something she knows they can handle. Josh helped with the fencing the other day. Alexis gave Sebastian some hay. Little things. But they are so excited to be at the barn, and be able to ride.

Corrin has dance, so she spends time with the barn kitties. McLovins, Moose, and Binky. Yes weird names, I'll get pictures up soon.

Letter to Isabelle

Well, I had sent a letter to Isabelle and some pictures of Bass. She was so happy to see how good he looks. She even said she'd show Jerome the pictures of Bass.

Thursday, August 7, 2008

Well, I do have to get some new pictures up here. They have the footing in the ring, and have started building new stalls. They also have some new horses coming in for September.
I have ridden Bass since his saddle fitting and he seems much more relaxed. I hope to start being able to lunge him with side reins soon, to work on his top line. He needs muscle in the right places. Although he does look ten times better now than he did a few months ago.
My mom has some pictures of when he was up in Warren, so I'll do some before and after type postings. I'll post more later.

New Pictures

Here's the newest picture of the Bass. He's just so handsome!
He has been spending time with the geldings, becoming part of the herd.

Well this is what the indoor ring looked like last week. They since have pushed all the dirt up against the cement. Now they just need to get the footing in and they have started the outdoor ring also.

Heat Wave!

It is hot out there. We went up to see Bass, he is looking so good. Isn't he a cutie?

Here he is with his fly sheet on. It kept him cool.

She wasn't really riding, although she should've had a helmet on, we didn't go far.

Being silly!

Here's a picture of what they have gotten done for the indoor riding ring.

Gaining Weight

Yeah! He is finally gaining weight. He looks so much better. Amanda (she runs Greene Acres) has been giving him something called "cool calories". It helps him get extra fat without the extra energy. I don't know how much of it he actually eats, but he does seem to be doing much better.

Went up today, and they are starting their Indoor riding ring, and an outdoor riding ring. They have fencing up for more pastures, and from what I understand they will be building lean to's out there for the horses for shade and such. I can't wait!

Beautiful Weekend!

It was a beautiful weekend! On Saturday I went to Leslie's. There was a lady there with her Lippit Morgan gelding. Oh he was beautiful! Gorgeous horse! Very typey. Anyway, I learned alot. It's amazing how much more you learn when you can see people doing each thing with their horse, and all the different types of horses. I am hoping to start really working with Bass this weekend. I have been here and there doing small things, mostly just spending undemanding time with him. He enjoys that.

GreeneAcres

His new home. Greene Acres Equestrian Center. He is soo happy. I will get some pictures of the whole place. My mom and Barbara came up with their dogs, Molly and Meredith, (Molly is deaf and only has one eye, she loves Bass, Meredith, I don't know if she's to sure yet.) (I'll put pictures up of them also.)

So, they came up over the weekend and we walked with Bass over the little bridge to the field. He was so good. I thought for sure he would give me a hard time. I watched him though, as soon as I saw him getting a little nervous I would turn him back toward the barn and let him eat grass. I only had to do that twice and when he was calm he just walked right over.

oh! He is also starting to gain weight. His winter coat is shedding out revealing his shiny summer coat.

All this Natural Horsemanship stuff I've been trying to learn has really helped me. I have made some new friends. Also with working at Dion Tack on the weekends, It has opened up the whole horsey world again. : )

Moving again

Yes I know what you are thinking, WHY??

Well, he needed more grass. More of just everything. So I found a place where he has beautiful grass, wide open spaces, and I can see him on my way to work and my way home.

Between all this, I had contacted Leslie Miller to help me with Bass and his ground manners. She was great! He was listening to her in no time. Well, she gave my mom and I tickets to Parelli. That was fantastic! We really enjoyed the whole thing. So I had Leslie help me move Bass again. It only took us one hour to get him on the trailer. While we were in the processes we got to talking and come to find out she had worked a short time with Jerome. What a small world.

Got Bass to his new place and he is happy, I am happy and the kids can have fun exploring!

Moving time!

Well it has come time to move Ambassador closer to home. Not just for us, but for him also. I find a farm just down the street. Oh, it will be grand to have him so close. The very beginning of February we decide to move Ambassador. Ok, well little did I know he wanted nothing to do with the horse trailer.

First thing he does is trot over to say hello to the mares. Then it takes both myself and the lady with the trailer to hold onto him, keep him pointed in the trailer. Well, then it comes to our attention that he hasn't eaten yet. Okay lets try bribing him on. With a flake of hay and a scoop of grain we slowly coax him on the trailer.

After three hours, yes three hours we get him on. Yeah! He rode the whole way to his new place very peacefully. When we get there he unloads beautifully.

Mine again

I knew there was a reason I had kept those brushes for so long. I washed them and brought them with me the next few times to see him. He is on the thin side. After talking with Elyse, with my mom with me, It has come time to either buy him or not. Oh, I can't let him slip away again. The very next day I go up to pay his adoption fee. On January 12th 2008 Ambassador is mine again. Yeah!!! What an uplifting experience. My kids, and my husband, are super excited. A horse of our own!

How do I start?

This may get long winded. So bear with me.... When I was 13 we moved to the mountains of Granville. There was (actually still is) a horse farm on the main route called White Birch Morgans. Beautiful, beautiful horses!
Well, one day someone went by on a bike, a few minutes later a dog came running into the yard. He was older and thirsty. So we gave him some water and soon the person on the bike came back. Come to find out that they were from the horse farm. So we said we'd drive the dog back and when we got there I HAD to look at the horses. This one gelding named Ambassador kept coming up to me to see what was going on. My parents had said that I could finally get a horse, and I knew this was the one for me. So for my 14th birthday, WBM's Ambassador was officially mine, with a red ribbon on him and everything. I was soooo excited. He was a handful, but I loved him.
We built our barn, and fenced in parts of our 5 acres for him, while Ambassador was in training with Jerome Parker, (at that time he was associated with Shadowood Morgans) Went to a couple of Morgan shows. Got a 3rd, 4th and an 8th. Driving too. Oh, it was soo much fun. When Bass finally came home to our house it was so nice to see him out my bedroom window. A dream come true!
A few years passed with not much excitement, just everyday stuff.

Well, around the time I turned 18 my parents got divorced. Talk about throwing a peaceful life into disarray. My parents tried to make the transition as easy as possible. But when my "normal" family life passed into the unknown, it brought down the world. (Looking back, I know both of my parents tried to make sure me and my brother didn't blame ourselves) When everything was said and done, (I'm not sure how long the whole process actually took) when we had to move, we had to get rid of our two dogs, Admiral and Indigo, (they were the best dogs ever), my moms three birds, we kept two of the many cats we had. My brothers horse we had to find a new home for, and I was trying my damnest to keep Ambassador. Unfortunately I couldn't afford him on my own and reluctanly sold him. It broke my heart!

There are still days I think back and wonder what my life would've been like if my parents had stayed together. Would I have gone to college and gotten my Equine Sciences degree? Would I be in the same place I am right now? Would I have the three wonderful children? I don't know.

All I do know is what is going on right now.

Well, Lets jump ahead. I have gotten married, have three beautiful children. A good job. It's September 2007 and still something is missing. I have tried finding Ambassador many times with no luck. Well I do some more research and learn that maybe the last place he was is Connecticut. While searching on the internet I find a Morgan farm around the place where the trail of Ambassador stops. In October I email the Morgan farm. The owner Emails me back saying she thinks she remembers the horse and she'll ask around. My heart starts jumping. Maybe just maybe!

The lady writes me back saying that maybe Charlotte might know him, or know where he is. Oh great I think another dead end. But there is hope. For whatever reason I just can't bring myself to call. What if he is gone again? What if something happened and he's no longer alive? Finally my mom talks me into calling. (Thank you MOM) I call this lady and she says she had him for 6 or 7 years. "He needs an experienced rider" she says. Yes! I know that finally I have found him. But wait he's in Vermont, no, he was in Vermont. He is now in Warren. Warren?? Oh my that is just 20 minutes away from where I work. This just sounds to good to be true. Charlotte gives me Elyse's name and number. This is now the end of December. I call and she says I can come see him.

It is very hard to get through work. I call my husband and he helps me figure out where I need to go. I am very nervous driving up to see him. As soon as I see his markings I know it is him. Of course it just figures it is one of the coldest days ever. With no gloves on I stand and rub him. Apologizing for selling him all those years ago. I start crying.

First entry.

Sounds like star trek, first entry star date...ha ha. Anyway. I wanted to start this so family and friends can follow along this amazing story.
